In short, this Marketing Internship position comes with significant responsibility, learnings in hard and soft skills that are relevant for highly sought after marketing positions and the ability to make an actual impact. Our company Mad Paws is growing super fast, has been all over the news in recent weeks and all of it is the product of a team of passionate, positive people that will always keep learning from each other. Previous interns in this position have built a name in the industry and have afterwards been hired in our company or by other exciting marketing or technology organisations in Sydney.

Mad Paws Pty Ltd ( is a Sydney-based Internet startup. We are Australia’s largest market place for pet sitting and pet related services. We launched only 1.5 years ago and have been showing strong and accelerated growth, which we are very excited about. Our team is driven, capable and very hard working! About You

Together with our Head of Marketing and his team, it is your task to acquire customers and sitters in the most efficient ways possible. You will use data to determine what’s working, what isn’t, and push to optimise and scale. You’ll find, plan and implement innovative growth hacking techniques to grow our user base. This cross-functional role is tailor made for a results-driven, analytical and creatively-minded problem solver.

You will be working alongside our Marketing, Operations and Product teams, learning from them, helping them and undertaking new initiatives to hopefully later also learn them new innovative marketing techniques. 


Your responsibilities

  • Analysis:
    • Quantitative analysis: we take an intensely data-driven approach to our marketing;
    • Qualitative analysis: understand the user behaviour and psychology by speaking to our user-facing teams and by interacting with users yourself;
    • Testing of channels: there is a variety of marketing channels that can be further optimised, some channels yet to be explored and without any doubt multiple more innovative channels that we haven’t even thought about. Your input will be crucial here.
  • Implementation:
    • Create and develop demand and lead generation activities, conversion programs, and marketing campaigns that provide measurable improvement for top-line and bottom-line growth and meet monthly and yearly goals;
    • A lot of it will be PPC, SEO, paid social, display advertising, retargeting, e-mail marketing, customer engagement and content strategies;
    • Optimising landing pages, sales funnels and viral features.
  • Strategic:
    • Assist in researching, developing and producing a comprehensive Demand Generation Plan for short and long-term profitable growth; and help develop the campaigns, execution steps, content requirements & reports;
    • Aggressively review and stay up-to-date on market trends through all available resources, including direct customer contact, competitive analysis, participation in industry conferences/expos/trade shows, etc.

  • You know how to prioritise and understand that perfection is not the goal: we need to get things done and iterate quickly while collecting the right data and insights;
  • You are energetic and enthusiastic;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • You like technology;
  • You have an affinity with pets; this will help you understand our users better who absolutely love pets;
  • You are a great team player and have ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

When and where is this happening:

  • The internship would be anywhere from 2 days a week (during uni) and 3 days a week (during uni break) to 5 days a week;
  • The usual duration of our internships is about 3 months;
  • Looking to fill the position as soon as possible, but we are determined to find the right fit;
  • Based in Sydney. Own office but part of Sydney’s largest co-working tech hub Fishburners;
