Service Description

Hello! I'm Raf, a professional dog trainer and walker. I have experience with almost every type of dog, from tiny to huge and from relaxed to agressive. And I use my knowledge in dog behaviour to every job I do, be it training, sitting or walking. I love to have a healthy relation with dogs, teaching them to be calm and respectful at all times. And more than teaching dogs, I love teaching owners about their own dogs and how they can have a healthier relationship. I think the years I spent working with advertising and design gave me a good notion of knowldge sharing and didacticism.
I love dogs since I can remember. They were almost always in my family and when I was ten years old I tried to create a dog washing business in my own house. It's no surprise that it didn't work out then, but long years later, when I was 24, after graduating and working with advertising, I gave up my designer carreer and started woking full-time with dogs, with a big friend of mine that had been working with them for ten years already. I have also worked in day cares and minded dogs in my home. After 3 years working every day with dogs, I've decided to expand my horizons and move from Brazil to Australia with my girlfriend. We've arrived in the begining of july 2016 and my goal is to keep living and learning with dogs here, as I did in my home country.
Right now I can't recieve dogs in my house because of lack of space, but for everything else, you can count on me!

He knows how to take good care of them, for sure, as he had to help us around with them. He is very dedicated, responsible and kind. I am writing to share my experience with Rafael, who has given exceptional care to our dog since June, 2016. Rafael came to us through a referral from another dog owner, in our building, McQueen. We had just adopted a new puppy and needed someone to come some days a week to exercise him. Our puppy, Margo, is an Australian Cattle Dog/Boxer mix, full of energy. Rafael is wonderfully patient and loving with Margo and also a great help in training as he-enforces house rules and follows through on training strategies that I have learned. Rafael had to manage more than a few challenging situations, but he has always risen to the occasion. In addition, Rafael is extremely dependable.

Hi, Rafael took care of my dog for several months. He was great with him, very loving, assertive, patient and professional. He used to take Lycan for long walks on the neighboorhood 3 times a week. My dog loved him and the walks were very efficient (Lycan always got calm after walks). Besides the regular walk, Rafa was always focused of training and obedience. And more important: my dog is a Bull Terrier, so Rafa is really good with big and powerful dogs! I truly recommend him!

Tell us about your experience with pets! How long have you been a pet lover?

I've been a dog lover for all my life, but only in the last three years I started learning more about how they interpret the world and how we must deal with them. My work experience started with walks on a huge beautiful park called Ibirapuera, in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. My friend, work partner and tutor, Rubens, taught me most of what I know since the very first day and with all the admiration I have for him, there's a great deal of gratitude. I started walking one, two, then three relaxed dogs, then four, five, then I started walking a very insecure dog, then an agressive dog, and started learning about different situations in which dogs can find themselves in. Along with the walks, I learned a lot about behaviour and leadership, and after one year I started getting into training. I still have a lot to learn but now I feel confident dealing with a big range of situations. My specialty is owner training, more than dog training. To have a good dog, people have to be good owners, and I love teaching them how to be good owners. That's when I feel that I'm making a real difference in people's lives.

Where will you walk my dog? Please tell us about the nearby parks.

Since I don't have a car yet, the starting point to your dog's walk is going to be your home.This means I will have to go to parks nearby your home. And I know that walking on the treets is a delicate matter, specially for the heat and hot concrete floor. That's why I will only walk your dog in appropriate hours, carrying water with me, and looking for a fresh green park to go to.

What information do you need to know about a pet before accepting a booking?

I can deal with every type of dog, and I love challenges. The more "difficult" a dog is, the bigger the change I can do in his life. So I will accept pretty much every booking, as long as it is in an accpeptable distance from my house. However, before I start working with a dog, I always get from the owners a full detail of the situation he is in. That is the first step for me to deal properly with the dog.

What is the estimated time that you will spend with my pet each day?

That depends on how much energy your dog needs to spend. I've got lots of energy, and I can take big walks, runs or bike rides.
