For the last 25 years, I have always been around dogs and love all kinds, especially big dogs. When I was younger, I adopted my first dog from Lort Smith Animal Hospital. Initially I went in there hoping to find a loving puppy to call my own but instead, fell in love with an elderly Rottweiler called Guinevere. It didn't take me long to convince my parents that getting a giant scared rottweiler was the right decision as it was likely that she would get adopted due to the negative perception many people have because of her breed. She spent the last of her years with a loving family and was an extremely happy dog full of joy but unfortunately passed due to cancer spreading throughout her body.
When she passed, I couldn't bare going through that again so I began fostering dogs with Starting Over Dog Rescue. The rescue group would get a list of dogs from the pound that were due to be put to sleep and they would take them and send them off to foster families to look after them until they found their forever home so I met a lot of different dogs through that with all sorts of different needs. My last foster dog I had with the rescue group was a palliative care dog that people said was "a dead dog walking" because of his condition. He was given by the vet roughly 2 weeks to live so we made a bucket list and tried to achieve as much as possible in his last weeks. Little did we know that he was going to last a lot longer than the vet had suspected. We ended up having him for over a year until he passed which brings me to where I am today.
I currently don't have a dog but would happily look after your dog(s) whether it be pet sitting, minding, walking or even just visiting your dog while you're at work, I would be happy to help. ...
