About Jen

I am a Marine Biology PhD graduate from JCU, and my research focused on animal behaviour. I am originally from the UK, but have been living in Townsville for over 7 years now. I have 2 parrots (eclectus and green cheek), a German shepherd, a Rottweiler and 4ft tropical community fish tank.

I have a lot of experience looking after parrots and am known as a 'crazy bird lady'. In the past, I have looked after: male and female eclectus parrots, ringnecks, king parrots, lorikeets (rainbow, musk, scaly breasted), conures (sun, green cheek), alexandrines, lovebirds/peach faces, budgies and cockatiels. I adore birds and their quirky personalities, and completely understand how hard it can be leaving them with strangers - I would treat your feather babies as I do my own, which are RIDICULOUSLY spoilt. I have a very good understanding of the dietary requirements of different species and have done quite a bit of work with training birds as well (my eclectus was "unfit to be a hand-reared bird" because she was "feral"...and now she is a big softy/mummy's girl). I am also a previous bird wildlife carer. Bird sitting can be provided in my own home (as long as evidence is provided of a recent vet check), or in your home in the form of daily visits.
