My husband and I have a two year old daughter who adores animals. Our five year old Groodle (golden retriever / poodle) is a calm and loving big brother to her. We have often thought about getting another dog but its double the food and vet bills so we thought this would be the perfect solution!
We equally work part time hours so there is always someone home to play fetch or go for a walk. Our Groodle adores all company (including other animals - we've had chickens and rabbits stay and he didn't care at all). He is a really calming influence on other dogs; in fact, when we used to work full time our puppy sitters would take him out to other dogs for their training and socialisation!
We have always been dog lovers. I grew up with a German Shepherd and then two Beagles, my husband grew up with a Kelpie Cross. As soon as we had the move in date for our house we had put a puppy on hold! We are often looking after our aunties Miniaure Schnauzers, my mum's Beagle or our gorgeous new nephew-puppy Cavoodle. Dogs are just wonderful to be around. We've also looked after/owned chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and turtles and have administered medication on occasions.
We have a very securely fenced-in yard with a grassy backyard for playing as well as another grassy dog-dedicated courtyard that is fully enclosed but connected to the house via a large a dog door.
Your pet absolutely must do well with other animals and of course, small children. Our daughter is great with all our families dogs (there are a lot in our family!). As well, your dog must have all their vaccinations up to date. We consider it essential to have a meet and greet with your dog before they come to stay - for your peace of mind, as well as ours.
You bring their bed and food and they'll have a loving home away from home with us. Walks and trips to the dog park are just some of the ways we spend time as a family and included in the price of your dog's stay.
We get that your pet is a member of your family and we will treat them the same. We will send you updates with pictures while you're away!
