I have trained Guide Dog and Seeing Eye Dog puppies for eleven years, and have trained pet dogs for three years. We have a dog and two cats who get along with each other fine, and would probably be very friendly with your pet as well. We live near an off-lead park, so if you say that your dog is OK off lead, I will give him/her some time to run around and play. We're also OK with pets that want to stay inside, or in the garden.
I generally find that it's more effective to do training with the dog and its owner(s), so that the people can try their hands in real time at the new behaviours that the dog is learning. However if this is not possible, I can take the dog away for training sessions and then do a quick recap for the people later on -- however I do believe the first way is better for both dogs and owners. I am a positive reinforcement trainer; I do not use aggressive, threatening, or intimidation tactics. This really does work better over the long run!
