We are located in the beautiful Currumbin Waters area on the Southern Gold Coast of Qld. We do not hire sub-contractors so I will be servicing your needs personally (with my husband acting as a back-up). Your doggy/ies and/or pussy cats will have free reign inside our home, however, only doggies will be allowed out in our garden. Puss cats are kept indoors. We do our utmost to help new doggies/pussy cats settle in, making it as warm, loving and comfortable an environment as possible for them. We are a fairly quiet retired and semi-retired couple (no children living at home now as they are grown up and independent) so this, combined with a little gentle music or TV should help your doggy/ies and/or pussy cats to settle in. Our boarders always have a friendly lap to sit on throughout the day or in the evenings when we watch TV together, if they so desire. We have recently installed fully ducted air conditioning to our home for your fur babies' year round comfort and vinyl timber-look flooring and tiles for hygiene.
Your fur babies are welcome to sleep on our bed if that is what they are used to, although most are happy to sleep at the foot of our bed in their own beds that you supply. We find our doggies usually like to stay close by our side when we're home, however, on the rare occasion we have to go out, we pop them out in the backyard (with polycarb patio flyover roof) allowing full access to our garage (should the weather change) which has a clean epoxy resin coated floor. We pop their bedding/toys in the garage if we have to go out and give them a treat to keep our charges busy while we slip out. We also supply a "Mutt Hutt" kennel and stretcher bed in the garage.
Exercise is an important part of what we offer to stimulate our doggy boarders and we find this keeps them from destructive or obsessive behaviours which can come about as a result of boredom. With this in mind, we offer either a 1 hour a day walk/run in a GCCC Leash-Free Dog Park or beach, or 2 x 1/2 hour walks a day, on the lead, locally (all this dependent on your requirements for your little furry friend/s and their own reactions to given situations ... we can tailor make walks to suit your needs). Before allowing our boarders loose in a leash-free environment, we test them on the lead to see how they react around other dogs, and how responsive they are to our recall with voice, visual aids and treats. If we're not reasonably confident they will respond as required, we will not take risks with them, particularly around other dogs that may pose a threat to them.
Attached are some photos of our backyard and past happy boarders ... our yard is reasonably small but since your doggy/ies will receive daily exercise outside the yard, they will be just fine. Our backyard is fully enclosed with a six foot Colorbond fence and a gate through which they can watch the passing parade :). This gate is safe and secure.
Unfortunately, if your doggy is not well socialised around other doggies, or is a digger, we cannot take them. Having said that we can deal with minor snappiness with other dogs but will not tolerate full on aggressive behaviour.
