I am a 25 year old student and my partner in crime is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd named Aurora. Our favourite activites include beach runs, playing ocean fetch and playing at the park. We live 5 minutes away from an off leash park full of friendly young dogs and a nice dirty creek for swimming in. Our backyard has been made virtually escape proof (dig proof) over the years, the only dogs we would have trouble keeping are known fence jumpers, as there is one area where a retaining wall meets the property fence (see pictures). The backyard consists of tiles around a pool, and a sloped garden above a retaining wall for exploring and lizard chasing.
Aurora has been very well socialised with dogs of all sizes, and loves to wrestle and chase. She does tend to play rough. Sleeping arrangements can be made for inside and out, depending on age and size, and toilet trained dogs will be welcome inside our home during the evening and on hot days.
I have worked at a pet boarding facility in Sydneys south for the past two years, where I am responsible for medicating, grooming, feeding, cleaning, caring and checking (aged care daily checks, general health checks) cats and dogs. I have undertaken bite minimisation courses, and have experience dealing with anxious pets.
I am also studying zoology and conservation biology at the University of Western Sydney, and have completed my certificate 2 in Animal Studies. Other hands on experience includes a year of volunteer work at Taronga Zoo, and I am a current member of the Illawarra branch of WIRES.
