This is a long Bio but please read from start to finish as important information is contained therein.
I offer Pet Day Care only in my home.
Hi! I care for vaccinated, de-sexed, microchipped and flea and worm treated small dogs only, for short or long term visits. I have an average size yard to explore and a comfortable home to enjoy, cool in summer, warm in winter. I care for four dogs max at a time.
I am currently working from home so there is a lot of human interaction available. Clients provide their own food, treats, dental chews, toys and bedding.
Although I feed the dogs twice a day in different corners of the large room or outside, occasionally when one dog is finished, I may hand feed some wet food from a separate supply bowl if it has already been heated. (I do not allow dogs to eat out of each other's bowls) If you prefer your dog is never exposed to any food other than the diet you provide, let me know, particularly if your dog has a very sensitive stomach, I do not want to be held responsible for any adverse outcomes so I am upfront on this. This applies to dry food. I will hand feed from a separate supply bowl if a dog has finished their wet food and is still hungry. Sometimes dogs will not eat without hand feeding. I then wash my hands and try with another dog etc...until I am happy all are satisfied.
Dogs sleep in my living room, or in the puppy pen within the same room if they are content in it. Bedding is often shared and the dogs decide in the end. If your vet prefers your dog to only sleep in her own bed, you are best taking your dog to a 'one dog' only sitter, a kennel or pet hotel. I can try to sleep your dog in my pen but often dogs bark if placed in there so I cannot always sleep them separately. I only have one large pen also.
99.9% of dogs are well socialised and remain in the living room happily until I return if I need to go out. I should emphasis, other than for dog walking, I rarely go out these days...my husband even does the shopping! If there is a dog that I do not feel happy leaving with the small pack, I will leave in the pen.
Please understand that as the dogs share a large room, there are on occasion accidents, particularly as dogs mark new territory. I will do my best to keep the room and bedding clean but if bedding is dirty on collection day, I may not have time to wash it. I will always soak it or hose it down which may mean returning a wet bed or blanket. I do not have a dryer on the premises so this is the best I can offer under such circumstances.
The first visit can be a trial and in very rare circumstances, an error. An ‘error’ will be if a dog is aggressive towards other dogs or people. If any aggression occurs during a sit, I will potentially contact owners immediately and ask them to have their dog collected to prevent injury to other dogs and myself. Therefore owners must have another contact who can collect their dog in such a situation i.e. neighbour, relative or friend. The dog should then only use kennel services for future sits. Dogs that bark excessively (sometimes due to separation anxiety) should be housed in a kennel also. I would not ask for a dog to be collected in such a circumstance unless it was unbearable but would not have the dog again as I'm in a residential area.
Now that the serious side is over, your dog will have fun at my place. They love the interaction with other dogs, the cuddles on the couch and if a walk is included (more about this below) , the gleam in their eyes when they know they are about to sniff out the news of the day, is priceless.
I can also offer ADD ON dog walking and dog grooming with the sitting as I am a professional dog walker and dog groomer:
Dog Walking - So it is fair to those pet parents whose dog does not require walking during their stay, IF YOU NEED WALKS INCLUDED IN THE SITTING, PLEASE TICK THE Add-on Services (Step 3) for the service you are booking when making the BOOKING REQUEST. With the Mad Paws System, if walks are selected, it will add them to every day – you cannot select one or two walks for five days of hosting for example. Therefore call me if you only want a few walks and I will reduce the cost of the walks while you are making the booking. Please provide a walking harness if you request walks. Note I double leash dogs to ensure if a collar slips, the harness will secure the dog and vica versa.
Dog Grooming - Dog grooming services include basic washes right through to breed clipping. Fees will depend on the service you choose. The $113 rate advertised on this website is the fee for a dog between 5-10kg requiring a full standard teddy clip. So for example, a wash only is far less, but a full poodle clip is more. Please call me anytime to discuss the service further as I can re-adjust the fee before you book.
As a groomer, even if you do not request grooming as an additional service, I will always at a minimum, keep your pet's face and rear clean. This is the advantage of choosing a sitter who is also a groomer.
On arrival, please park in the driveway, message me you have arrived on my mobile, walk to the garage door at the end of the driveway and I'll meet you there.
1. To book multiple dogs, firstly ensure you have added all the dogs to your profile. Then on the right of my profile page, select the service you need e.g. Pet Hosting. Under the Heading ‘My pets’ select how many dogs you are booking. For example, 1 puppy and one small dog. Scroll to the bottom of this and hit Apply – it isn’t visible until you scroll down.
Then select the dates you require and click on ‘Contact Angela’.
At step 2, make sure you click all the pets you need included.
At step 3, select any walks. Note the information above re walks.
At step 4, include your message.
2. I kindly ask all dog sitting clients to wash their dog on the day of delivery or if not possible, at least the day before - this is greatly appreciated given they will be staying in a family home.
3. Madpaws will soon build into the booking system additional options to further clarify Recommended Service Times per Service Type. They are as follows:
Hosting - Up to 24 Hours
Sitting - Up to 24 Hours
Pet Day Care - Up to 10 Hours
Dog Walk - Up to 30 mins
Therefore, for example, if you need to book one night, but you will be dropping your dog at 9am on the first day and collecting at 5pm the next day, you will need to book one night of hosting and one day of Pet day care.
