Accommodation and access:
My partner Chris, Addie (3-year-old yellow female Labrador), and I live in a one-story house in Annandale with a very large, fenced backyard in a quiet neighbourhood of homes (note for elderly dogs that there are stairs at the entrance). Your pet will have access to the indoors (except for the couch), our very large and completely enclosed/fenced backyard (yard does not have street access for added peace of mind), our fenced front terrace for some street watching if we are reading/relaxing out there, plenty of water and toys to play with.
Pet care background and experience:
I grew up with two Dachshunds as a child and Addie our yellow lab is approaching 4 years old. Prior to moving to Australia, we frequently volunteered with our local shelter fostering dogs so, we have cared for many different breeds, sizes, and ages. We have experience administering medication and wound care to dogs. We take dog minding very seriously (I'm arguably a helicopter dog mom) and are committed to being the best dog minders and parents we can be - plenty of play, toys, natural snacks, rubs, training practice, and exercise - we extend this care to any pet that comes into our home. To extend the same level of care and attention to your dog, I ask that you please be transparent and fully disclose information about their temperament, likes, dislikes, triggers, habits, etc. prior to completing the booking. Meet and greet required for day care and overnight care.
Our family and availability:
Chris and I are from the US, our work transferred us to Sydney. We are both graduates and working professionals in the CBD (Chris goes to the office most days, I work from home 3-5 days per week and happy to have some extra company on those days). We also have a dog-friendly SUV for transport in case of emergencies.
Services I can offer (depending on my availability):
1. Dog Walking - time of day depends on my availability around meetings - this varies by the day so requires flexibility on timing on the day. Dog walk will be at least 45-minutes (up to 60 minutes) Please send a booking request and state if the walk must be completed at a specific time of day.
2. Dog Day Care in our home (up to 8-hours) - your dog must be friendly with other dogs and be able to be left for up to 2-hours unattended with our dog (we plan to be home for the full duration of the day care service but in case I need to run an errand unexpectedly I note this preference). I'm not comfortable caring for aggressive or highly anxious dogs.
3. Visits in your home - within a 2km radius of Annandale. I can stay for at least 45 minutes with them, playing, interacting, and caring for them, taking them to the toilet, administering medication, etc.
4. Overnight stays in our home (up to 24 hours (same time drop off - same time pick up) - your dog must be friendly to other dogs, I'm not comfortable caring for aggressive or highly anxious dogs. Includes at least 1x 45-60-minute walk/dog park trip daily (but very likely to do 2 per day) Your pet will sleep indoors but they can sleep outdoors if they are accustomed. Please bring their preferred bed/overnight items. NOTE: 1-night overnight stay (trial booking) required in advance of booking overnight stays 3-nights or more.
