I am a dog lover and have always had my own dogs for many years. Unfortunately upon my return to Australia I had to leave my dog Maggie in the care of a very good friend in Ireland. As much as this broke my heart the thought of putting her through the strict regime and quarantine which is required by Australia is not an alternative (she is 13) so decided that to get my fix I would become a carer for other people's pets when required which I had done for 12 months. With all the cancellations due to covid-19 and the uncertainty of how long it would be before bookings would resume, after much thought I decided to get a rescue dog from The Dog Refuge and now am the proud owner of another collie x Willow who is 3 years old. Although she is a bit of a project due to her background she is coming along well. She is quite timid around other dogs until she gets to know them but once she knows the other dog isn't aggressive towards her she then loves to play but equally likes her own space.
Although I worked at a very good kennels in the UK for many years, I totally understand that sometimes kennels is not enough and we want our pets to be housed indoors and with company which is something I can offer, the exception being when I need to pop out to the shops or attend a class, which is usually no more than a couple of hours a few times a week. Evenings though I do go out 3 times a week to play darts so your pet would need to be ok with being left alone indoors in the evenings for a few hours.
I live opposite a park and usually walk my dogs (on lead) twice a day morning and afternoon for approx 30 minutes each time and also have a large enclosed backyard allowing your pet to run freely if they choose.
