My name is Travis, I'm a 29 year old student originally from Canada who moved to Melbourne to complete my degree at the University of Melbourne. I have a strong background in animal sciences and animal care. Until moving overseas for study I have never lived without a dog in the house and have been fortunate to be able to work with many breeds and dogs of all sizes and personalities... the quirkier, the better! I have spent the better part of two decades looking after family's, friend's, and neighbour's animals, but I am currently looking to help those in need of a dog walker or short or longer-term carer at the pet's residence (i.e. daytime feeds/water/toilet/walks, overnight/multi-day care etc.). I am comfortable tailoring care requests to the needs of the animal and in a manner that best accommodates your schedule. This may include working with animals requiring medications, certain dietary requirements, or young/senior aged animals. Pet sitting and care services are not limited to dogs and I am happy to care for cats and other animals upon request. Additionally, I have also completed a preceptorship in wildlife rehabilitation and though not a specialty, I am comfortable working with some exotic/unusual pets. Further details can be discussed if this kind of care is sought.
I would prefer to come to the animal at their place of residence for pick ups/walks or other care services as this is where they are most comfortable and it saves you having to transport their items elsewhere. My aim is always to minimise any stresses and help your pet feel less affected by daily changes or your absence and to get out and have some fun. Though I prefer to care for animals at their own residence, my yard is fully fenced and my home air conditioned should the animal need to stay with me. I am happy to collect your pet(s) for a walk from your home at an agreed time and that aligns with your daily schedule and your pet's normal regime. I am located in the west near Spotswood/Newport/Altona North and am happy to travel to most western suburbs, but also spend a great deal of time in the Brunswick/Parkville/Carlton/Fitzroy/Collingwood/Abbotsford areas. Other localities will be entertained as well as long as accessible by transport. Further destinations for multiday stays or overnight care will also be considered.
When I'm not with animals or busy with uni I love to travel and explore the outdoors, so naturally dog walking is a perfect way for me to combine a bit of both, at least on a local level. However, when I get together with friends, I'm likely to be found guilty of one or two too many games of Trouble. But is there really such a thing?! Currently I am enjoying Melbourne summer before eventually moving back home and beginning the next chapter in my career. Most happy to work with schedules and accommodate you and your pet's needs so that your friend can maintain as normal a life as possible until you're back.
In the interim, If I seem like a good match for your pet, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am happy to meet up for coffee or just to meet your pet and answer any other questions or concerns you may have. Additional requests or special circumstances will certainly be entertained and accommodated to the best of my abilities.
