Hello I’m Heather, I'm originally from Northern California but have been living in Australia for the past 4 years. I recently moved to Newcastle with my partner and am working remotely from our apartment in The Hill.

I'm a lifelong animal lover with a particular soft spot for dogs. I grew up with two mini schnauzers and two giant schnauzers. I also used to live with and care for a pointer/lab mix and pet sit for my friend's Malshi. I absolutely love the energy and love a dog brings into your day, no matter their size and shape.

My partner Max often helps out with the pet sitting and will join on walks. He's also a big dog lover. We would love to take your dog out for some exercise or give them some cuddles and attention during the day while you're at work or busy with other responsibilities. We are happiest when outside with a dog :)

What an overnight stay with us entails: we will usually walk your dog for about 1 hour in the morning and the evening. We will also take them around the block in the afternoon- once or twice depending on the dog. Your dog will sleep wherever they are most comfortable and we have no problem bringing their bed into our room if they like to be close to humans. I have set my price based on the average dog and time and care we put into stays. Please note that MadPaws adds a certain % to our advertised prices, and then takes an additional 20-30% of what you pay before going to us.

*PRICE TRANSPARENCY: We currently have summer pricing set at $75/night; you see this advertised as $82/night; after MadPaws deducts fees we receive $60/night. Prices are not up for negotiation.

*A NOTE ON DOG SIZE & BREED: We currently live in an apartment so, I will not accept stays for working breed dogs with high working drive (e.g. Kelpie, Husky, Aus Shephard) as I cannot ensure they would love their stay with no easy access to the outdoors. If you have a bigger breed dog happy with walks/trips to the park only (e.g. Greyhound) please reach out. I am happy to walk all dogs.

* I only sit from my apartment; I will happily pick up a dog for a walk from your place, but I do not provide sitting services from your home

*If your dog has complex behavioural issues/needs, please specify what these entail. "Anxiety" is not specific. I will be more selective with bookings with dogs whose profile has not been filled out.
