We live in a unit with a secure side- and backyard. Merri creek and Yarra parkland is literally 30 m from our unit. We do two walks a day, one being a longer one. I am home most days. Dogs all sleep inside overnight and have access to outside during the day. Used to have that little terrier cross, then a very chill greyhound, now we have a border collie, who is all about the work, but is learning to switch off.
The visiting dog will be around my very dog-savy teenage daughter and my chilled rescue greyhound, Kirk. Kirk is a typical greyhound, who likes his peace and quiet, but is up for the occasional run/romp. He generally gets along well with dogs that are not too boisterous or bouncy. Your dog will LOVE our long, ambling walks along the Yarra. I suggest we would always meet up for a walk together first. Gives us a chance to sniff each other out :-)
I grew up with dogs and have a strong common animal sense - I did my PhD in environmental science which involved handling wildlife. I have been doing this service for many years now. Your dog will be part of my family and allowed on the couch, but only after I give the okay. I believe in discipline, exercise and affection as the corner stones for a happy pooch. Happy to provide some training, too....
