A super hello to my fellow pet owners! I am Divyani, a yoga teacher. I moved to Melbourne about 9 years ago and while I do visit home in India frequently, time in Melbourne means time away from my fur babies. While I’ve always been involved in taking care of stray animals back in India, I’ve had 4 fur babies of my own - a beagle (Casper) and 3 rescued mixed breeds (Chikki, Cookie and Lucky). As I miss my babies more than ever, I'd love to pitch in my experience to help with your pooches and kitties!
I have been involved with caring for pets and with animal welfare for more than 20 years. My parents saw my love for animals in my habit of getting abandoned stray pups and kittens back home and caring for them. I then took to a more practical approach of volunteering with my friends at an animal shelter and fundraising for animal welfare organisations. The day my parents gave in to my years of pleading and decided to get my beagle puppy is still the happiest day of my life. Of course, I still took to rescuing some more pups and brought them into our care – because good habits should never be changed 😊.
Although I am a yoga teacher by profession, I am trained in Animal Behaviour and Welfare from University of Edinburgh. My experience of raising my stubborn Beagle boy into a loving and caring little sweetheart and my super hyper strays into beautiful, joy-giving bubbas has taught me of how every pet has a different need and every paw-parent has a different approach towards and routine for their pets. But the greatest learning from my doggos has been to harness positive energy, love and compassion and respect, and I promise to give your fur-babies my 100%. Having been a Mad Paws pet sitter since 2016, I feel very confident with all kinds of breeds of dogs and cats and I hope to make you feel sure and comfortable with trusting me with your little ones.
