About Melanie
I'm a biologist who loves animals, particularly dog-walking. I'm new here so have reduced my rates (negotiable) as I'd like to meet new clients! I have a flexible schedule, happy to take last minute bookings, and have a large fenced-off garden in Ainslie right near the shops.
What I offer:
* walks/runs: typically 1-2 hours, but happy to do longer. My preferred walking areas are around Ainslie and Braddon (I'm close to dog-friendly ovals), also around Lake Burley Griffin, and the fire trails of Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura. If you're visiting Canberra and want to visit institutions such as the War Memorial, National Gallery, Arboretum, Botanic Gardens ..etc I'm happy to meet you at venue and start the walk from there.
* day sitting: hanging out inside during the hot part of the day (or outside if that's the preference in a large fenced-off backyard), includes at least 30 min playtime, hugs, pats, chats, short toilet break walks, feeding (please provide the required dietary regime). As I'm right near Ainslie shops I'm able to take dogs to appointments at Wolfy's groomers (www.wolfysvip.com.au), as well as vet appointments in the area.
* check in on pets in houses nearby: includes replenishing food and water, any light cleaning of areas as required, at least 30 min playtime.
*"grooming": basic wash and dry as an additional service added onto day care or a walk.
Happy to discuss any other requirements on a case-by-case basis.
I require a meet-and-greet prior to any of these services to see if it's a good fit so please feel free to get in touch.

I currently have two chickens in their own enclosure: Katsu and Raptor. When i was younger I had cats, a rabbit, and looked after dogs and horses.
Dogs - I am capable of handling:
* anxious dogs
* energetic dogs for walks/runs
* elderly dogs and administering medication
* walking to groomers/appointments
* basic wash/dry "grooming"

My husband & i are travelling from vic-qld & really wanted to see the War Museum in Canberra, but couldn’t, due to having our fury third-wheel with us. i messaged Melanie & she was extremely accomodating! Even meeting us at the war memorial so we could do the tour. She took Frank for a walk & they came back besties! Would absolutely recco her & will re-book when back in Canberra! Thank you!
