About Kara

My name is Kara and I am a fit, active, and healthy Canadian professional who moved to Queensland recently with my partner, Bodhin, to pursue a career in Marine Science. I have always worked and cared for animals - from managing a large equestrian centre (50+ horses) throughout high school, to training and caring for a diverse range of animals at the Vancouver Aquarium. Non professionally, I've always kept pets (e.g. reptiles, amphibians, fishes, spiders, horses, cats, dogs, guinea pits) and I've pet sat for many in my network. Since moving to Australia, I've provided petsitting services for 80+ dogs (in addition to cats, birds, chickens) on platforms including Aussie Housesitters, Trusted Housesitters, and Rover. Throughout my post-secondary education and career, I've received training to understand animal behavior well and I am constantly applying my knowledge to my training services with diligence and consistency. I also have experience working with anxious and reactive dogs. Overall, I truly enjoy the opportunity to work with animals and I am happy to lend my expertise.

We know breed temperaments well and consider the needs of the breed when tailoring our care to the individual. We have experience providing care to dogs with extreme reactivity and anxiety, and we know how to manage and mitigate these behaviors. It has also been a pleasure to train younger dogs and maintain training of older dogs.

If you want to go away and be at ease while enjoying time out, you can be reassured that I will look after your home and animals as if they were my own.

While prices are negotiable within reason to reduce financial barriers to quality animal care, they currently are adequately representative of the time spent providing high quality care, enrichment, and training.
