About Maxine
Hi, I'm Maxine, a seasoned pet care provider with 23 years experience.
As a former vet nurse and dog groomer, my expertise goes beyond just cuddles and walks. Rest easy knowing I'm independently insured, putting your pet's safety as a top priority. I provide personalised pet care to suit your individual requirements, extending the warmth of my family to ensure your pets feel at ease in the familiarity of their own home. I pride myself on creating lasting, quality relationships with the pets and families we come into contact with.
My primary aged daughter usually accompanies me to in-clients-home sits. She is well used to this way of life, having come along with me to sits since she was a baby. If you have pets who are not ok with children, do mention it to me, as we do have one or two clients where this is the case and I have versed her very well on how to behave with these animals - but the decision is of course always left to you and we will both come along to meet your fur kids to ensure everyone is happy. 9 times out of 10, we find the fur babies we look after REALLY appreciate the extra attention and adoration that comes from being doted on by a well-educated animal loving child - please take a look in our profile photo gallery for some examples.
Pet caring is my full time profession, I provide dog walking and drop in visits (for feeding and any other tasks), and as such am "home" with your pets from about 3.30pm to 8am, when house sitting. Every day looks a little different though, some days I am home a few more hours in the morning or afternoon, and I am often able to pop home between pet visits. If you have pets who are used to their owners being home all day, or pets who have anxiety in their absence, we may not be the best fit.
Although "retired" from vet nursing and grooming, I am still experienced and comfortable to carry out diabetes monitoring, as well as oral, topical and injection medicating, and I do keep an eye out for behaviours and other indications of possible health problems. I can also offer walking and house sitting clients dog bathing and grooming, upon request (however I cannot accommodate ongoing appointments).
I am able to care for pocket pets such as rats, rabbits & guinea pigs, birds, select reptiles, and homestead animals like chickens, sheep and horses.

Some things to note:
PET VISITS: MadPaws lists the pet visit charge as "nightly" - the price reflected there is my charge per VISIT, rather than per NIGHT. If you require 2 visits per day, for example, the price is likely to be greater than what is reflected in your quote.
DOG WALKS: The price listed is for a duration of 1HOUR and includes travel to and from your residence. If you require a lesser time please don't hesitate to discuss this with me.
I also tend to need to stay north of the river during school term time, as I need to "do the school run" for my daughter. I can accommodate longer distances during school holiday times, though greater than 20km from my home will incur travel fees (generally a flat fee per week).
