About Jen

My Name is Jen Cummins, I am 42 and a stay at home mum. My first son, Jackson, was born in 2018 and I made the decision to become a stay-at-home mum until he was at school age. Harry, my second son, followed 2 years later and so I have been full time in my role as mum since then.
Harry is now starting in preschool and I am ready to get back into working outside the home. I am very interested in a position of a dog walker and carer as I have had dogs my whole life and I love the idea of working with them and also the flexibility that this allows me.
Growing up in Ireland, we always had dogs and my childhood was filled with them. My grandfather, with whom we lived, was a dog trainer and breeder, so I’ve been completely comfortable and at home with dogs since before I can remember.
We had a variety of breeds, but mainly Labradors and all my family still have dogs.
I came to Australia in 2002 for a year after I finished my degree and 21 years later, I am still here. I got a beagle in 2008 and until his death in 2019, he was my constant companion and came everywhere with me. He and I spent a lot of time in dog parks and there I met a lot of people with dogs. I went on to walk their dogs for them at times and also to look after them when their owners went away.
I have walked and looked after a lot of different types of breeds, including labradors, german shepherds, staffies, dashounds, french bulldogs, huskies and then of course my beautiful beagle who I lost in 2019. I currently have a pug/beagle cross who is walked every day, mainly at Curl Curl dog park.
If you would like any references, I know that any of the people whose dogs I looked after would be happy to supply them.
I love being around dogs and have absolutely no worries about being able to do this job competently and you could be assured that I would care for each one as if they were my own.
