I am a dog lover and enjoy having small to medium sized dogs come to stay. I have a house with a secure front and back yard and doggy door access. The house is only a five minute walk to a dog beach and even closer to our local park. Your dog will be loved and cared for as my own.
My partner and I work Monday-Friday from 8am-3pm, so we are available outside those hours (except for school holidays in which we are usually home.) My partner has a special love for border collies and kelpies as she grew up on a farm surrounded by working dogs. I have taken care of dogs of all ages but my special loves are cattle dogs and dogs that need a little extra effort.
My partner and I have one blue heeler rescue called Sunday that we have had for two years. She is 9 years old, kind and so gentle. She can be a bit nervous meeting new dogs on a lead or behind the fence but once she’s had a good sniff she’s good to go! She loves to play ball and after having many different doggos visit has now learnt how to play with other dogs. Her best friend is a kelpie that lives across the road. She is at her most happy when she is sitting in the company of her dog friends and attacking a peanut butter kong. Sunday came to us with no commands - she now knows: walk, ball, ready, sit, stay, out, away, bed and her all-time favourite: dinner!
Before Sunday came along, I met my first love - a beautiful blue heeler called Nanna. I adopted her at 13 years old and never stopped laughing at her funny antics. I had her for four years before she passed. She was blind, had arthritis and a skin condition so I am well adept at caring for older dogs.
My dream is to one day open a retirement home for older dogs. I’m still figuring out the financial side of that but hopefully, I get to meet lots of good (and a little bit naughty) doggies in the meantime....
