About Dominique
Spent my childhood growing up with every sort of animal you can imagine; horses, goats, various reptiles, birds, aquatic animals, cats and various breeds of dogs. As well as growing up around animals I worked as a foster carer for a number of dog shelters, working with animals with; disabilities, behavioural issues, young puppies and the particularly elderly dogs (I have changed so many dog diapers).
I will admit I have a particularly soft spot for for working breeds, I love how switched on they are and how you can SEE the gears spinning. Although there’s something magic about a dog that wants for nothing more than to be close with you, have their head petted and maybe be read to from whichever book is my latest obsession.
I have experience administering medication, various creams and even doing some physio work with a few types of animals, just the general care associated with a more senior animal.
If staying at my house they will have full run of a three bedroom, two bathroom house where I live by myself. What they are permitted to do will depend upon the owners wishes but I’m very happy having animals on the couch, in the bed and they will have a back door open at all points (depending on what type of animal, if it’s birds obviously the door will be closed). They will be free to roam between the house and the fully fenced backyard which offers a decent amount of shade and will have various enrichment activities places throughout the day. The doors will be closed and locked at nighttime and while I’d prefer to have the dog inside, I’m willing to follow owners instructions. For cats I will be keeping them indoors at all points in time as I have a lot of native birds who live in my backyard.
I live in a relatively quiet area and will only be allowing the dog access to the front yard depending on the breed as the front fence is about waist height so only small breeds will be allowed in the front yard.
I also really enjoy cooking, so if the owners are happy with it, I’d enjoy topping dog’s food with a bit of scrambled egg for breakfast and maybe add some blueberries every now and again, apple is really good for their teeth so I’ll happily share that, I’m well acquainted with canine nutrition. I also have a decent amount of knowledge about other animals diets, some birds do best on an entirely plant based diet and I’ll happily dice fruit for them and share my snacks.
I have lots of experience training various animals in everything from behavioural modification to ‘tricks’. I have previously taught a horse to bow and a bird to wave while saying ‘hi’. I probably have the most experience training dogs though, and greatly enjoy finding ways of using positive reinforcement and gentle guiding to achieve the desired outcome.
At present I work three days a week at a childcare center as a special needs aid, however I am working on being fully self employed and working from home so my availabilities should be a lot broader in the future.

Dominique was absolutely amazing with my two corgis. She took such wonderful care of them, going above and beyond with their treats and meals with her impressive knowledge in dog dental and gut health. I love how she spent time playing/engaging with them and her communication during my entire trip was outstanding. Would definitely recommend her and be a repeat client from hereon.
