About Amanda
My name is Amanda, and I am currently training to be a Veterinary Nurse.

I love animals of all shapes and sizes, I have spent much of my childhood and adolescence on a family farm which housed a variety of domestic farm animal's while also having cats, dogs, birds, guinea pigs and rats at home, along with different wildlife or strays depending on what my Mum was caring for at any given time (lol).

I have experience working with dogs with behavioural issues i.e., anxiety, fear aggression, lead pulling just to name a few and continue to learn and gain knowledge doing so.

For context on my experience with behavioural issues - along with growing up in an illegitimate zoo (haha) and the level of care and training that naturally occurs as a result - I previously adopted a 1-year-old German Shepherd who was abused resulting in poor socialisation and fear aggression towards other dogs. With time, patience, and positive reinforcement I was able to wholeheartedly trust him to play unsupervised with my Mums fluffy white Havanese. I am grateful to this day to have experienced the time I had with him and allow him to feel safe to reveal the big, gentle soul that was hiding beneath a tough yet frightened exterior. After all my work with him, requesting him to drop his beloved tennis ball would always result in a delayed response.

Due to my 2 years (so far) of Veterinary Nursing experience, I am confident caring for pets that require medical care i.e., administering medication, syringe feeding (O-tube), knowing the clinical signs that may arise if a pet has a medical condition, just to name a few things that I am confident performing.

I am looking to do pet sitting as the flexibility would allow me to have the opportunity to care for a larger variety of animals than I would be able to primarily care for on my own. It also helps me to gain and maintain the knowledge I currently have for caring for different kinds of animals at different life stages, with different needs.

We were so lucky to find Amanda. She cared for our fur babies as if they were her own. It was so beautiful to receive photos of their adventures and see how relaxed and happy they were in her presence.
