Since I retired I often look after my daughter's dog: Loki, a staffie full of energy, as well as my son's 2 cats: Mince and Gnut, mischievous brother and sister. Of course not at the same time !
I loved it and decided to offer the same help to other animal owners. I already looked after a few dogs living in my area and the owners have been happy.
Part of the earnings are devolved to Animals Australia, which I support for their work with retiring greyhounds.
The area where I live is quiet, with many great walks in the bush or on beaches, there is a park with off leash area very close nearby. My house has a fully fenced large backyard, with a covered outdoor area. Pets can stay indoors if they prefer, the living areas have no carpet and are spacious, can accommodate easily a dog bed or crate, and the cats can stay on the sofa or cushions, they also have access to a spare bedroom. I don't smoke or drink, and no one else that may stay in the house.
Included in the overnight or daily fee is a 1/2 hr daily walk for dogs; for cats I have a litter box and litter will be supplied.
I will not take more than 1 pet at a time, 2 or more only if they are already living together.
I cannot look after pets that have special needs or behavioral problems, I assume your animal is healthy, toilet trained and vaccinated, if not and any problems arise, this is your responsibility.
I go out occasionally for up to 2-3 hrs at a time during the day, so your pet must be happy to be on its own for a few hrs....
