I have Momo, she is an am-staff mix. She is my first dog as an adult. Had her since a puppy. She is anxious of people, but love dogs. I taught her basic obedience like sit, down, wait, heel and commando. Yes commando, she crawls :D She used to be very anxious to go outside. But with consistency and patience, she has found confidence now. All the neighbours and friends comment how much confidence she has now. Going out for a walk is so much easier now. My household consist of 1 female dog and 1 male human.
If I am looking after your dog. I might be tempted to teach them a bit of basic obedience like sit or down/drop. If they don't have it yet. It builds relationship and I will gain their trust. Of course, with your permission. I'm just not too keen with unruly dogs. I need to have an understanding with them if we are spending time together, or else it is chaos. Which means, I make them trust me and that I am their leader. Once, we have an understanding. Then it is all love and kisses! :D
Last year, I found it hard to look for a dog-sitter for Momo as she is not the usual friendly-type to strangers. She needs to warm up first. This year, since I am staying in for the holidays. I thought it would be good to help some paw parents who needs some pet-sitting services.
I walk my dog 2-3x a day depending on the weather. I will of course bring your dog along, depending on their needs. I have a backyard for the dogs to run around. Momo sleeps with us. Your doggo can sleep anywhere he wants, its all good. I will give you daily update of his/her shennanigans and adventures. You can give me their toys/beds/treats that will make them comfortable and anything else you want me to do for them. We can do trial stay as well. It's your rules. I need to make you and doggo feel comfortable, so just let me know what their needs are.
Update: During the Christmas holidays I might be in the process of moving house. I will still take in pets. House might just be a bit of chaos. Your doggo's safety will of course be top priority. He/She might just help me pack though. Or I leave them in the house with the A/C on, if they cannot come. In this case, and adult who doesn't chew anymore will be more suitable. Let's meet and greet....
