November 2025
Australian pets are about to get the best of both worlds, with two of the biggest pet care marketplaces merging – Rover, born out of Seattle in North America, and Mad Paws, founded in Sydney.
With Rover’s presence already established across North America and Europe, the acquisition of Mad Paws marks the company’s next major step in global expansion, extending its reach into the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region.
With the acquisition finalised on 11 November, Mad Paws moves from being a publicly listed ASX company to a privately held business under Rover. This new structure will enable faster innovation, stronger support for the local community, and integration into Rover’s global pet care network.
“We’re thrilled to have secured this deal and bring the global expertise of Rover to the Australian market,” said Brent Turner, CEO of Rover. “Sitters will benefit from increased support, and pet parents will enjoy more accessibility and reliability than ever.”

This acquisition is a win for the entire Mad Paws community. Pet parents and sitters alike will benefit from improved technology, smarter tools, and enhanced support, making pet care simpler, safer, and more rewarding.
At the same time, the deal signals strong confidence in the Australian pet services industry. The pet care industry is already on a steady grow trajectory, and this partnership highlights the potential for further growth.
Together, Rover and Mad Paws are helping shape the future of pet care in Australia while strengthening connections within the local community.
