Job Title: Growth Manager
Pets: Brownie, a bichon loulou
What were you doing before Mad Paws?
I was working at an IT consultancy company in project management. They focused on programs, software, and databases for big companies. It was a small company like Mad Paws, which has always been important to me – I’m a startup kind of person, and I love the sense of community that comes from working in a smaller organisation.
What do you love most about working at Mad Paws?
I love two things. The first thing is the people. Mad Paws is the first place I’ve worked where my colleagues feel like my friends, not just my co-workers. We genuinely care about each other; for instance, if someone falls sick, everyone else rallies around them and offers their support. Everyone makes an effort to be part of the team. It’s a laid back environment, but everyone works hard, which is a unique balance to find in a workplace.
The second thing I love about Mad Paws is my role that I’m in. Because I don’t focus on one area, I get to do so many things – tech building, product development, managing operations. I’m very much a Jill of all trades in this role, and that gives me a real variety to interact with on a daily basis.
Tell me about something special you have on your desk
I ALWAYS have chocolate on my desk. I also have lots of post-it notes. I’m very old school when it comes to managing myself, and when I remove a post-it note from my desk at the end of the day, I feel a real sense of accomplishment.
“I’ve completed a task, and the proof is on this post-it note!”
I also sit next to the office cookie jar. Between the chocolate and the cookies, I’m in constant danger of gaining weight.
What do you spend your weekends doing?
I actually host a radio show during the week, and I’ll soon be commencing further studies in journalism and media over the weekend. I also work on my side hustle, which is an online store, and I play basketball. Most importantly, I always spend a lot of time with my family.
What do you have as the background image on your phone?
The logo for my online store, which is called House of Looks.
If you could pet sit any animal, what would it be?
An elephant. I’d love to have an elephant in the room, because then I’d be living a pun.
Breakfast or dinner?
Comedy or drama?
Pirates or ninjas?
Pirates, for sure…but ninjas have their charm, too. I would love to be a pirate/ninja hybrid.
Rolling Stones or the Beatles?
The Beatles. I love the song “She loves you”!
Floating cloud city or underwater bubble city?
Floating cloud city, hands down! We’d have Skydiving Police.
Dogs or cats?
Dogs, for sure. I love all animals, but I’ll always have a soft spot for dogs.
